As a symphony percussionist,

a big part of my job is creating the most beautiful sounds on instruments that are inherently NOT beautiful: cymbals, gongs, drums, xylophone and more. In order to become a professional musician, many hours were spent dedicated to learning the intricacies of sound, tone production and what exactly makes certain tones pleasing to our ears. After years in conservatory, I became the Principal Percussionist of the Hawai’i Symphony in Honolulu and continue to find so much joy in creating unusual sounds in performance for others to enjoy the power of music.

As I started to explore the healing arts: yoga, meditation, breathwork, energy healing, etc, I fell in love with the sounds of the crystal quartz singing bowls. The bowls have very unusual characteristics: they have a very focused, almost cutting sound that penetrates our auric field, yet they are resonant, full and soothing. Listening to them feels like a massage for your brain and your soul.

All beings vibrate at specific frequencies. When we intently listen to sounds, our brains want. to match the vibration of the pitches we hear, a process called entrainment. This process slows down our brain waves to achieve an alpha or theta state, our ideal meditative and sleep states. For some, the tones of the bowls can provide an anchor to stay in the present moment. For others, the vibrations may rush through the body like a wave and provide physical sensations. Just by simply listening and relaxing, you will experience the healing benefits of sound.

How does it work?

Intro Workshop:

  • Saturday, 8/7: 12pm-2pm PST

  • Sunday, 8/8: 12pm- 2pm PST

  • All trainings will be recorded and made available to members in the group

  • Extensive notes and resources to start your Sound Meditation practice

  • 1 prerecorded Sound Meditation from Becca when you sign up before 4/15
